Boomerang (part of Twofour Group) has been commissioned to produce a bumper batch of its Channel 4 brand, Extreme Cake Makers, including two 30 x 30’ series – series 3 and 4 - and two specials.

Meanwhile, distributor Twofour Rights has struck a deal with Cooking Channel which has acquired rights to air series 2 in the US.

Matt Pritchard, Managing Director, Boomerang, said: “Thanks to Channel 4’s continued support for this award-winning series, our Cardiff team are once again looking forward to donning the aprons for some more extraordinary cake creations.”

Holly Hodges, who brokered the US deal for Twofour Rights, added: “Extreme Cake Makers combines extraordinary and compelling crafts people with show stopping creations that can be universally appreciated. With the additional scope for digital presence, this series is the perfect recipe for our international clients.”

David Sayer, Head of Daytime, Channel 4, who commissioned the series, says: “We’re thrilled to continue working with Boomerang on this series jam-packed full of technically outstanding cakes from masterful bakers across the U.K. The show is a testament to those of us who are captivated by watching remarkable creations unfold in the kitchen.”

Extreme Cake Makers, narrated by Rufus Hound, lands us in the heart of the whirlwind that is extreme cake making, as we watch this elite group of crafts men and women making dreams come true through these edible masterpieces. Series 2’s magnificent line up of cake making extraordinaires included Britain's first female pilot in the forces, a minister, a fashionista and a tattoo artist. The cake makers created everything from a four ft tall replica cow to an edible remote control car, an intricate nine tier wedding cake to a replica of Highgrove House that’s presented to HRH Prince Charles himself.

The first series of the brand sold into over 60 territories worldwide. Extreme Cake Makers won the broadcast award for Best Daytime Series and will soon total over 100 episodes. Extreme Cake Makers formed part of Twofour Rights’ slate of formats and finished tapes this April at MIP TV. The series is produced in Cardiff, executive produced by Boomerang’s Director of Programmes, Sam Grace.
