Twofour Rights inks Format Deals in Belgium and Eastern Europe at Mipcom
17 Oct 2018
Twofour Rights has brokered deals for two of its key formats, Boomerang’s What Would Your Kid Do? and Twofour’s bestseller This Time Next Year.
In the latest deals, Medialaan will make the Belgian version of What Would Your Kid Do? for VTM. It’s expected to go into production shortly and air early next year. Radio Television Serbia has also commissioned 16 episodes of What Would Your Kid Do?, while the local version in Hungary will air this month on TV2.
This Time Next Year’s global appeal continues. The Fresh Production House has secured a 10 x 60’ commission for LNK Lithuania.
Returning to the Belgian region, VRT has recommissioned a second season of the television time travel format following its immensely successful first run. Season one smashed the slot average by up to 34%. Plus Keshet in Israel has commissioned a further 5 x 60’ episodes of the title after ratings success with its 6 x 60’ run.
What Would Your Kid Do? is the show that challenges parents to guess how their children will behave in a variety of classroom challenges and real-world activities. In studio, the host observes alongside the parents as they try to predict what their child will do in each new situation, providing a fascinating, heart-warming and often hilariously surprising insight into the minds of children. The UK version, hosted by Jason Manford, attracted 3.9 million viewers for its launch episode and 18% share, smashing the ITV slot average and making it the best performing new factual entertainment show on ITV in almost a year. ITV recently recommissioned a second series and Christmas special in the UK.
This Time Next Year is a primetime studio entertainment series showcasing an array of incredible real-life transformations through an instantaneous ‘time travel’ style format. The show features ordinary people on a mission to transform their lives in extraordinary ways over the course of 12 months, pledging to viewers what they plan to change by ‘this time next year’. This could be anything from losing half their body weight to finding the love of their life, or even becoming a parent. The number two most produced format around the world (The WIT - 2017) is now in production across 15 territories with more than 160 episodes produced internationally. Season three in the UK coming soon.
Eniela Bella, VP Sales, EMEA & Latin America. Eniela Said: “We are delighted to see more local adaptations of This Time Time Next Year. These new deals demonstrate its staying power as a brand. With several territories coming aboard for our latest format hit, What Would Your Kid Do? and strong interest across major territories, it is shaping up to have the same appeal.”
Twofour Rights has launched its newest formats MIPCOM, including Undercover Girlfriends, Weekender Boat Party and Take The Tower starring Hollywood Supervillain Dolph Lundgren. The team is at ITV Studios House.
